Last updated: 12 July 2026

1. About this policy

LoanMatch Australia ("we", "us", "our") is a finance broker. William Reni is a Credit Representative (578664) of COG Compliance Services Pty Ltd, Australian Credit Licence 384428.

This policy explains how we collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information — including credit-related personal information — in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using our services, providing us with your personal information, or applying for finance through us, you agree to the collection and handling of your information as described in this policy.

2. What personal information we collect

Depending on the service you're applying for, we may collect:

  • Identity information — name, date of birth, address, contact details, driver's licence or passport details
  • Financial information — income, employment details, expenses, assets, liabilities, bank statements
  • Credit information — credit history, repayment history, credit score, information from credit reporting bodies, details of your credit applications and accounts
  • Application details — the loan type, amount, and purpose you're enquiring about
  • Technical information — IP address, browser type, and website usage data if you use our online tools (including the repayment calculator and rate-check form)

We only collect information that is reasonably necessary for our functions as a finance broker — primarily, assessing your finance needs and connecting you with suitable lenders.

3. How we collect your information

We typically collect personal information directly from you — through our website forms, over the phone, by email, or in person. We may also collect information:

  • From credit reporting bodies (see Section 5)
  • From lenders and financial institutions you've dealt with, where you've authorised this
  • From publicly available sources, where relevant to verifying your application
  • From your referrer, if someone referred you to us (only the details necessary to make contact)

If you provide us with personal information about another person (such as a co-applicant, guarantor, or dependant), you confirm that you have their consent to do so, or are otherwise authorised to provide it.

4. Why we collect, hold, and use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Assess your finance needs and eligibility
  • Compare your application against our panel of lenders
  • Submit applications to lenders on your behalf
  • Communicate with you about your application and our services
  • Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, including responsible lending obligations under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009
  • Improve our services and website
  • With your consent, send you marketing communications about products or services that may be relevant to you (see Section 8)

5. Credit information and credit reporting bodies

As a credit representative, we handle credit information as defined under Part IIIA of the Privacy Act. This section sets out our specific obligations around that information.

Credit reporting bodies we deal with: Equifax, illion, and Experian.

We may:

  • Obtain a credit report about you from a credit reporting body to assess your application
  • Disclose your credit information to lenders on our panel for the purpose of assessing and processing your application
  • Disclose your credit information to our aggregator/licensee, COG Compliance Services Pty Ltd, for compliance and audit purposes

We will not use or disclose your credit information for direct marketing purposes.

Credit reporting body privacy policies: the credit reporting bodies we deal with have their own privacy policies governing how they handle your information, including your right to access and correct information they hold, and to make a complaint directly to them. These are available on the Equifax, illion, and Experian websites respectively.

Notice before obtaining a credit report: before we obtain a credit report about you, we will notify you and, where required, obtain your consent, in accordance with the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2025.

6. Disclosure of your information

We may disclose your personal information to:

  • Lenders and financial institutions on our panel, for the purpose of assessing and processing your application
  • Credit reporting bodies, as described in Section 5
  • Our aggregator/licensee, COG Compliance Services Pty Ltd, for compliance, audit, and quality assurance purposes
  • Our service providers, such as IT systems providers, who help us operate our business (bound by confidentiality obligations)
  • Regulatory bodies, where required by law (such as the Australian Securities and Investments Commission)
  • Your referrer or co-applicant, where relevant to your application

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Overseas disclosure: we do not directly store personal information overseas ourselves. However, we use third-party platforms — including Squarespace (website hosting) and Google Analytics (website analytics) — that may process or store data on servers located overseas, including in the United States. These providers have their own privacy and security safeguards. We do not otherwise disclose your personal information to overseas recipients.

7. Our online tools

Our website includes a repayment calculator and a "Check My Rate" enquiry form.

  • The repayment calculator does not transmit or store the figures you enter — calculations happen in your browser only.
  • The enquiry form collects the information you provide (name, phone, email, loan details) and submits it to us for follow-up. This information is stored in our CRM system for 3 months.

We use Squarespace's built-in website analytics and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website, such as which pages are viewed and general visitor location and device information. This helps us improve our website and services. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using browser tools such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

8. Direct marketing

With your consent, we may send you information about products or services that may be of interest to you. You can opt out at any time by:

  • Clicking "unsubscribe" on any marketing email
  • Contacting us directly using the details in Section 12

We will not use your credit information for direct marketing purposes, in line with our obligations under the Privacy Act.

9. Data quality and security

We take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we hold is accurate, complete, and up to date, and to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. This includes:

  • Personal information is held within our website platform (Squarespace) and our CRM system, both of which have their own security safeguards. Access to this information is restricted to authorised personnel only.
  • Retaining personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law (credit-related records typically have specific minimum retention periods under the NCCP Act — confirm these with your licensee)

If we no longer need your personal information and are not required to retain it by law, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

10. Access and correction

You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to request that we correct it if it's inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading.

To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 12. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe (generally 30 days). We may need to verify your identity before providing access. There is no charge for making a request, though we may charge a reasonable fee for providing access in some circumstances.

If you believe information we've obtained from a credit reporting body is incorrect, you also have the right to request correction directly from that credit reporting body.

11. Complaints

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. The current version will always be available on our website, with the "last updated" date shown above.

This policy has been prepared as a template for LoanMatch Australia and reflects the Australian Privacy Principles and Part IIIA credit reporting provisions in effect as of mid-2026, including the Privacy Regulations 2025 and Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2025. It does not yet address the automated decision-making disclosure requirements commencing 10 December 2026 (APP 1.7–1.9) — if your Quick Quotes or matching process uses automated decision-making that could significantly affect an individual's rights or interests, this policy will need updating before that date. This document is provided as a starting point only and has not been reviewed by a lawyer or your Australian Credit Licence holder — please arrange that review before publishing.
